The Bureau on Cultural Heritage – BARMM joins the celebration of this year’s Mindanao Week of Peace from November 28 to December 04, 2019.

With the theme, “Environmental Care and Resilience to Climate Change: Action for Peace”, this year’s event highlights the significance of climate resilience and the promotion of climate justice in response to Mindanao’s continuous efforts for peace.

The week-long celebration is in accordance with Proclamation No. 127 issued by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2001. The proclamation declares that the government “recognizes the common aspirations of Mindanaoans to live in peace, unity and harmony with each other regardless of status in life, religion or culture”. The proclamation also says that to raise consciousness for a culture of peace among the peoples of Mindanao, there is a need to provide a venue for the expression of peace aspirations in various forms and for convergence of peace initiatives.
